Bleecker Burger began in 2012 when Zan Kaufman, a former New York corporate lawyer who had moonlighted at an East Village burger joint, bought an old van in London and started grilling burgers for hungry Londoners with KERB. Burgers are about the beef: rare-breed, grass-fed beef from small UK farms, dry-aged and cooked when you order, with a sesame bun, scratch sauce and American cheese. The first permanent shop opened in Old Spitalfields Market in 2015, and the still-independent, founder-led business now has ten London sites — Spitalfields, Victoria, Bloomberg Arcade, Westfield, London Bridge, Seven Dials Market, Baker Street, Soho and Camden Lock, plus a Battersea delivery kitchen — and was named #1 in the 2026 World Best Burger Places. A Stonewall Diversity Champion with a vision of "an equal world, where Bleecker is the best burger": twice-yearly EDI reporting, gender-neutral parental leave language and a strong record of promoting from within.
