Chase Inns (Chase Proper Pubs Ltd) was founded by Paul, with over 30 years in hospitality, alongside operations director Manuel. After a long search for the perfect first pub they took over The Queens Head in Old Chesham in August 2023 and brought it back to life with a sympathetic refurbishment; 18 months later came their second "proper pub", the 16th-century Cross Keys in Great Missenden (October 2024), followed by The Elephant & Castle at Amwell near St Albans. Both Buckinghamshire pubs are Fuller's houses operated by Chase Inns, who vow to respect their heritage and make them the county's best examples — real ales, premium spirits and cocktails, and some of the most authentic cuisine in the area, including the Queens Head's Thai kitchen. Sister business Chase Inns Events (CIE) hires bar and cellar equipment for festivals and events.
The Cross Keys is a wonderful 16th-century pub on the High Street in Great Missenden — home of Roald Dahl — and the perfect example of a historic English alehouse: low beamed ceilings, cosy corners and a constant flow of top-class ale, with fine fare, a function room and good old-fashioned service. A Fuller's house operated by Chase Inns since October 2024.
The Elephant & Castle is a country pub on Amwell Lane in the hamlet of Amwell near Wheathampstead, outside St Albans — Chase Inns' third pub, serving lunch, evening and Sunday roast menus with real ales and a large garden. Part of Chase Inns.
The Queens Head is a Fuller's pub on Church Street in Old Chesham, taken over and sympathetically refurbished by Chase Inns in August 2023. Real ales and cocktails in the bar, an authentic Thai kitchen, and an upstairs restaurant (usually Thu–Sat evenings) available for private hire, functions and corporate bookings for up to 40 covers. Part of Chase Inns.
