Island Poké brought Hawaiian poké to London: founder James Porter, who grew up between California and Hawai'i, quit an art-gallery job to sell bowls at a street-food market and opened the first restaurant on Kingly Street, Soho, in 2016. Voted the best poké in London, it makes every bowl fresh to order with sashimi-grade Scottish salmon and sustainable ingredients, developed Europe's first vegan poké and has collaborated with Chotto Matte, Rosa's Thai and Palm Vaults, opening in France in 2020. Its UK estate now centres on four sites — Soho, Bank (Bow Lane), Victoria and Brighton — plus catering, with ordering through the Embargo app.
