Mr Tea

Mr Tea is an independent Taiwanese tea house group — "Brewed in Yorkshire. Rooted in Taiwan." Its founder, the fellow in the bamboo hat on the sign, grew up in Kaohsiung and, missing the corner-stand milk tea and night-market salt-and-pepper chicken of home, travelled the length of Taiwan sitting down with tea growers and family suppliers until what he served tasted exactly right. Black, green and oolong leaves still come from Taiwan and are brewed loose to order; pearls are cooked in small batches through the day; milk is fresh and local; every cup is shaken by hand. Three shops in the centres of Leeds, York and Bradford, with a private upstairs room in Leeds for K-pop cupsleeve events, cosplay meet-ups and small celebrations.
