The Dog & Gun in Netheravon joined the Chickpea family in April 2021 and is the group's pizza pub, thanks to the wood-fired oven squeezed into the kitchen: nole sourdough pizzas alongside handmade pies and seasonal dishes. nole pizza was a lockdown baby, first appearing at The Pembroke Arms before getting its own little shop — nole on the square in Salisbury — and popping up at Chickpea's pubs. A traditional Neapolitan recipe gives chewy, hand-stretched sourdough with the best crusts, but the toppings are playful with the abundance of local produce (try the No.4: field mushroom, truffle and Westcombe ricotta); £10 pizzas weekday lunchtimes on the square. The Bell & Crown in Zeals was the first pub to join the Chickpea family — a country boozer tucked just off the A303, handy for a Sunday roast or a pint of local ale after a stroll round the gardens at nearby Stourhead. A major renovation added six brand-new rooms, making it the cosiest Chickpea pub for long winter evenings, while summer is all about country air and a refreshed garden. Part of Chickpea Group.
