The Pony Family is Josh and Holly Eggleton's Somerset and Bristol restaurant group, established in 2006 and now running six restaurants and a brewery with over 200 staff: The Pony Chew Valley, The Kensington Arms, Root (Bristol, Wells and Bath) and Salt & Malt (Chew Valley Lake, Wapping Wharf and Weston-super-Mare). Locally sourced, environmentally sustainable dining, support for local charities, and the School of Food apprenticeship scheme developing hospitality skills across the South West.
Root is The Pony Family's vegetable-led small-plates restaurant brand, with sites at Cargo on Bristol's Wapping Wharf, on Sadler Street in Wells and, newest, at Milsom Place in Bath — seasonal, locally sourced plates with fish and meat on the side.
Salt & Malt is The Pony Family's award-winning fish & chip restaurant and takeaway brand — "fish and chips with a view" — with sites on the bank of Chew Valley Lake (shortlisted top-20 Fish & Chip Restaurant of the Year), at Cargo on Bristol's Wapping Wharf harbourside, and on the seafront at Weston-super-Mare. Locally sourced, MSC-certified sustainably fished, gluten-free across the board, chips fried in 100% British rapeseed oil, with breakfasts, afternoon teas and private hire alongside the classic chippy.
The Kensington Arms — "The Kenny" — is The Pony Family's traditional pub, chop house and grill in Redland, Bristol: a proper British local with West Country produce cooked over wood and coal, modern British dishes, pub classics and a celebrated Sunday roast, plus private dining rooms and event space.
The Pony Chew Valley is The Pony Family's original: Josh Eggleton's restaurant and pub in Chew Magna with locally sourced, sustainable dining, a cookery school, the Pony Garden, weddings, private events and corporate bookings.
