The historic Charlotte Street pub that gave Fitzrovia its name: a coffee house from 1822, a tavern by 1856, rebuilt in 1897 and between the wars the haunt of Augustus John, Nina Hamnett, Dylan Thomas and George Orwell. Now a pub and restaurant with several bars and a dining room, serving British pub food with a twist ordered at the bar: small plates (three for £24.95), lunchtime sandwiches, bar snacks and a Sunday menu. The dining room takes parties and private hire, with grazing menus for pre-booked groups of ten or more, plus a darts package.
Open Monday to Friday 12pm-11pm, Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 12pm-10:30pm. Food Monday to Friday 12pm-3pm and 5pm-9pm, Saturday 12pm-9pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm. Tables of up to six can be booked online; larger parties by email or phone; outside tables are walk-in only.
