Rotunda is a waterside bar and restaurant in the ground-floor foyer of Kings Place, a few minutes from King's Cross station, with a wraparound terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Regent's Canal. Open since October 2008, it serves modern British food built on seasonality and provenance.
Beef and lamb come exclusively from the business's own farm at Matfen in Northumberland, where the animals are grass-fed and free to roam; the farmer, Ian Scott, breeds Limousin X cattle and Texel lambs and sends them off the farm when they are ready rather than when the market dictates. The meat is dry-aged and hung in a purpose-built hanging room at Kings Place and butchered on site, with an ageing cabinet in the centre of the restaurant showing the cuts available. Meats are cooked on a Josper grill.
Monday 16:00-23:00. Tuesday to Friday 12:00-00:00. Saturday 11:00-00:00. Sunday 12:00-20:00. The terrace closes at 21:30.
Alongside the a la carte there are Sunday roasts, a three-course Sunday Beef Club, bottomless brunch, weekly live music, sports screenings and pre- and post-concert menus for Kings Place events. The Roebuck Garden terrace runs in partnership with Roebuck Estates. Private dining and full venue hire are available, and the restaurant is dog friendly.
