Kiln is an independent Newcastle restaurant, café and pottery studio in the Ouseburn valley — "a British larder with Middle Eastern spices". Built from a derelict garage eight years ago, it grew from a pottery studio into a restaurant shaped by craft, music and the people who fill it: food cooked over flame, coffee poured with intent, and everything from the ceramics on the tables to the furniture, lamps, artwork and soft drinks made by hand in-house. Open every day for breakfast, small-plates lunch and dinner, with pottery classes, gift cards and a dog- and child-friendly welcome. Run by 1265 Degrees North Ltd, which also owns Patina in Edinburgh.
