Poon's London is Amy Poon's revival of one of London's great Chinese restaurant names: her father Bill Poon opened Poon's & Co in 1973 and went on to earn a Michelin star, and after pop-ups, collaborations and a Wontoneria residency she relaunched the family name as a Chinese fine-goods brand and, now, a restaurant. Poon's at Somerset House, in the New Wing facing Lancaster Place, champions Chinese home classics cooked with seasonal local produce and fine Chinese ingredients, served family-style - the place to come if you don't have a nice Chinese friend to cook for you at home - with an express lunch, a £29 pre-theatre menu, late-night siu yeh dishes, a summer terrace and a drawing room for private dining and events. The brand's award-winning signature sauces, fresh pork wontons and wind-dried meats are made at its arch at Spa Terminus in Bermondsey, sold online, through UK stockists and from the arch on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Praised by Grace Dent, Tom Parker Bowles, Marina O'Loughlin and Giles Coren. Anyone wanting to join the team is invited to email dine@poonslondon.com.
