Poon's at Somerset House

Amy Poon's restaurant in the New Wing of Somerset House, with its entrance on Lancaster Place at the north end of Waterloo Bridge, five minutes from Covent Garden and Temple. Chinese home cooking served family-style across the Dining Room (banquettes and a kitchen counter) and the Library Room (communal Club Table): three-dishes-one-soup pre-theatre menu at £29 until 6:30pm, an express set lunch Tuesday to Friday designed to be finished within the hour, late-night siu yeh dishes after 9pm, an award-winning wine list and a summer terrace for cocktails and nibbles. The drawing room hosts private dining for up to 24, with whole-venue hire, weddings and events; celebration cakes from Maison Bertaux. Tables are kept for walk-ins. Tuesday to Thursday 12pm-3pm and 5:30pm-10pm; Friday 12pm-3pm and 5:30pm-10:15pm; Saturday all day 12pm-10:15pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.
