Rules is London's oldest restaurant, established by Thomas Rule on Maiden Lane in Covent Garden in 1798 and owned by just four families across its two-century history. It serves classic British cooking — game from its own Lartington estate in the High Pennines among it — in dining rooms that have welcomed generations of writers and public figures. The building also holds a cocktail bar, the Winter Garden, and two private dining rooms named for Graham Greene and Sir John Betjeman.
