San Carlo
San Carlo Restaurant Group is a family-owned collection of luxury Italian restaurants founded by Sicilian-born chairman Carlo Distefano, who opened the first San Carlo on Temple Street, Birmingham in 1992 after arriving in Britain in 1962 with £12 in his pocket. Bristol followed in 1996, then Leicester and Manchester, and with two more generations of the Distefano family the group has grown into a £60 million business of around 25 UK restaurants across Birmingham, Bristol, Cheshire, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London and Manchester, plus a growing international portfolio in the Gulf, Egypt, Morocco, Thailand, Sardinia and Florida. The brands span the flagship San Carlo restaurants, Fumo restaurant-bars, Venetian-style Cicchetti and Ciccaro, Signor Sassi in Knightsbridge, Isola, Flying Pizza in Leeds and the San Carlo restaurants, cafés and bars inside Selfridges in London, Manchester, Birmingham and the Trafford Centre.

Ciccaro is San Carlo's newest concept, an intimate old-world Italian restaurant at 215 Piccadilly just off Regent Street and beside the Criterion and Piccadilly theatres, formerly trading as Cicchetti Piccadilly. Inspired by the Venetian tradition of eating well together, it serves cicchetti-style sharing plates, handmade pasta and fresh seafood with handpicked Italian wines, classic cocktails and aperitivi, and is popular for pre-theatre dining.
