The French House is the most iconic of Soho watering holes — the best-known pub in "the world's naughtiest square mile", where actors, writers, artists and wits rub shoulders with royalty, bohemians and the film world over thirty champagnes and wines by the glass. A no-music, no-machines, no-television, no-mobile-phones rule keeps it a haven for conversation. Upstairs, a tiny restaurant room serves a daily-changing lunch and dinner menu Monday to Saturday in two sittings, and hosts private groups of around twenty.
