Kolae

Kolae is a Thai bar and grill in an old coach house in the heart of Borough Market, from the team behind som saa. The food is inspired by Thailand's Southern Provinces and named after kolae, a cooking style in which ingredients are coated in a curry-like coconut marinade and grilled over open flames. Meat comes from Swaledale in Yorkshire, fish arrives each morning from the South Coast via Fin and Flounder and The Sea The Sea, and Thai vegetables come direct from Thailand. The restaurant is split across three floors, with an open kitchen and counter dining downstairs and a top-floor private dining space for 12 to 20 guests. Bookings are taken for parties of all sizes and some seats are always held back for walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis; reservations are for full meals only, and the bar dining counter is bookable for diners only. On halal: the chicken on the menu is halal, and other cuts may also be halal depending on supplier availability - the restaurant confirms the status of specific items daily. Accessibility: only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible and there is no lift between the three floors. Guests needing wheelchair access or space for a pram should say so when booking.
