Noble Rot Soho occupies the former site of the Gay Hussar on Greek Street, once notorious as the lair of many left-wing politicians - Clement Attlee, Gordon Brown and Tony Blair all dined here. The building's period features have been preserved and renovated, and Martin Rowson, the Guardian's political cartoonist, has painted triptychs celebrating the restaurant's past and present customers. The menu is overseen by head chef Alex Jackson (ex-Sardine) and executive chef Stephen Harris of The Sportsman, and includes subtle references to the Gay Hussar's past alongside a roast chicken with morels and vin jaune sauce.
Restaurant: Monday to Saturday 12pm-2:30pm and 5pm-9:30pm; closed Sunday. A set lunch menu is available 12pm-2:30pm every day. Reservations are taken for lunch and dinner Monday to Saturday. Fully air-conditioned.
A private dining room sits on the second floor of the Greek Street townhouse, the historic setting of many Labour party strategy meetings over the years.
