The Palmerston is a restaurant, bakery and coffee room on Palmerston Place in Edinburgh's West End. The kitchen works closely with farmers, growers and fishermen, particularly in Scotland, and the menu changes daily in the European style. Whole animals are bought and butchered in house to minimise waste and showcase lesser-used cuts; fruit and vegetables come from local farms including Phantassie and The Free Company just outside Edinburgh; and bread and pastries are baked on site each day.
Coffee and pastries: Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00, takeaway only from 11:00.
Lunch: Tuesday to Saturday 12:00-14:30, Sunday 12:00-15:30.
Dinner: Tuesday to Saturday 18:00-21:30.
Closed Monday.
A set lunch runs Tuesday to Friday at two courses for 23 pounds or three for 26, excluding December and 1 January. Parties of ten or more take a three-course set menu at 50 pounds per head. The largest table is twelve guests; anything larger requires private hire of the restaurant. The restaurant is dog friendly, if mentioned when booking, and adds one pound to each bill for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. Reservations are taken through Resy.
