White Lion
Nestled in the heart of the Dorset countryside, the White Lion is a charming 17th-century inn with a fascinating history — most notably serving as a refuge for King Charles II in 1651 before his flight to France. Closed since the summer of 2021, the White Lion reopened on 29 April 2022 after a hugely successful community fundraising campaign, backed by local residents, Palmers Brewery and a dedicated steering committee. Today, Broadwindsor Community Pub Ltd maintains the White Lion as a welcoming focal point for residents and visitors alike. Within its cosy interior, complete with open log fires, visitors can savour beautifully kept Palmers ale and home-cooked food made with locally sourced ingredients. Entertainment is plentiful, from bingo and quiz nights to folk music and other live performances. Dog-friendly, with disabled facilities.
